Amphora
Amphoras are large vessels which were used for the bulk transportation of food and drink from their places of manufacture. The shape and fabric of this example show that it came from Spain and that it probably contained fish sauce or salted fish. The amphora stood upright in the grave, resting on one corner. This indicates that iti may have contained some of its original contents when buried. |
